Hurry! Get over to the Friday Center for a fabulous conference on water this week in Chapel Hill, Water and Health: Where Science Meets Policy, led by The Water Institute at UNC and the UNC Institute for the Environment.Access to clean, safe water, managing water scarcity in communities in the U.S. and around the world, and so many other issues are among the most pressing issues on the planet. Over 400 people from more than 40 countries will be in town for the meeting. It’s not too late to take it in. If you can’t make it, reading the agenda is an education in itself.

Next time you turn on the tap, think about this: more than one billion people in the world don’t have access to safe water, and over two billion people lack sanitation. According to water.org, more people in the world have cell phones than toilets — a strange commentary on our world! It’s our problem too.

Happy Monday. Barbara
