The passing of Noreen Clark

November 25, 2013

2013-11-24-Clark_memorialI was so sad to get an email Sunday night that Dr. Noreen Clark had passed away Saturday. Noreen had been University of Michigan’s dean of public health and Marshall H. Becker Professor of Public Health from 1995 to 2005. At the time of her death, she was the Myron E. Wegman Distinguished University Professor; professor of health behavior and health education; professor of pediatrics; and director of the University of Michigan’s Center for Managing Chronic Disease. She was one of the most generous people in sharing her wisdom and experience. Before I became dean and afterwards, Dr. Clark was a person I sought out for wisdom and insight which she generously shared. She was a member of our External Advisory Committee from 2006-2011.  Noreen’s advice was especially helpful as we approached our period of accreditation. Noreen was one of the leaders in the developing field of chronic disease management. Her passing is a great loss. Barbara
